Welcome to the 80th Anniversary Committee!

The 80th Annual General Meeting of the Goldfields Repertory Club has seen the Club off to an auspicious start for its 80th year.

Elections saw the return of Lauren Chapman-Holle as President, Clare Fleming as a Vice President and Jim Fleming as Treasurer, and welcomed Stuart Fleming as a Vice President, and David Holle and Tim Sadleir as the Club’s Secretaries.

The election also saw the return of committee members Norma Latchford (Artistic Director), Teresa Bennett, Chelsea Gillam, Abigail Ayers, David Lyons-Nash, and Colleen Williams (Wardrobe), and welcomed new committee members Sarah-Jayne Eeles and Alexis Harris.

Returning Rep Club President Lauren Chapman-Holle said she was thrilled to have such an enthusiastic and skilled group of people on the new committee.
“The committee members will also fill other roles within the Rep Club and its committee, including Publicity, Building and Maintenance, Membership, Social Co-Coordinator and our coordinating our 80th Anniversary Celebrations,” she said.
“This club, like all community organisations, only exists because we have such a strong base of member skills on which to draw, and this year, our 80th Anniversary, we look to all of our members to join us and assist in any way they can with the celebrations – be it through joining our Anniversary subcommittee, helping out behind the bar during shows, or just through sharing your memories of the Rep Club with us."

AUDITIONS - Director in Residence Ray Omodei

The Goldfields Repertory Club is offering local thespians the chance to audition for nationally acclaimed director Raymond Omodei.
The Rep Club is currently finalising an arrangement to have highly respected and nationally acclaimed director, Ray Omodei direct a production as part of the Club’s 80th Anniversary Celebrations.

Mr Omodei, who was an active member of the Goldfields Repertory Club in the 1950's and 60's, has a vast experience, including as an Associate Director and Director of the Writers Workshop at the National Theatre Company at the Playhouse, as the Resident Director of the Old Tote Theatre Company (precursor to the Sydney Theatre Company), which was the resident theatre company of the "nearly ready" Sydney Opera House, as an Artistic Director of the Mason Miller Theatre Company, as a long serving Artistic Director of the Hole in the Wall Theatre Company, and as the Foundation Artistic Director of the State Theatre Company of Western Australia.

He has also undertaken artistic residencies at Adelaide University and the University of Western Australia, as well as being the State Director and National Workshop Director of the National Multi-Arts Project conducted by the Curriculum Development Centre, Canberra, across six states.

Rep Club President Lauren Chapman-Holle said it was exciting opportunity for local actors to work with a director of Omodei’s skill and experience.

“Ray Omodei has produced more than 200 plays throughout his career, and directed about 130 of those,” she said.

“This is such a fantastic opportunity for actors in the Goldfields. Mr Omodei will also be working with two local thespians, Stuart Fleming and Sarah-Jayne Eeles, who will be his assistant directors. This is a great opportunity for them to work alongside Ray and really learn from his years of experience.”
